Very well written first novel read on my Kindle

By Geeze on May 5, 2013

A very well written first novel. Felt as though had a ring-side seat to the train wreck life of Etta, the poor girl/woman just couldn't catch a break. Going to keep an eye out for Kate's next book

Great historical fiction

The Heirloom Pearls is an engrossing tale of the lives of two strong women, Isabel McIntire and her daughter, Etta. First-rate author Kate Nixon transported me to late 19th Century Kentucky through her faithful representation of the era and her captivating writing style. Through the trials and tribulations of Isabel and Etta, I gained a firm grasp of the challenges faced by women of that time. While I generally don't read historical fiction, I loved this book and highly recommend it. Can't wait for the author's next novel.

Well researched story for historical accuracy in a hard-to-put-down novel. Strong women facing great challenges. I can't wait for Kate Nixon's next book! Well done!
